The specially developed “ToughCoat” surface eliminates the need for waxing.
- Maintains appearance long-term with simple cleaning:
Compared to standard vinyl tiles: Approx. 6× higher durability (company comparison)
03 – Durability
ToughTec™ Tile is engineered for resilience.
- Moderate rigidity prevents cracking from impact
- Resistant to damage from dropped objects
- Maintains structural integrity under commercial use
Example comparison:
- Ceramic tile (10mm thick) can crack under impact
- ToughTec™ (3mm thick) resists breakage under similar conditions

04 – Safety & Hygiene
- Less slippery than polished ceramic tiles
- Anti-viral surface treatment
- Reduces specific viruses on the surface by 99%+
Certified to SIAA safety standards - Test results (example):
- Virus count reduced from:
05 – Installation Performance
ToughTec™ is designed for efficient commercial installation:
- Can be cut with a standard knife
- Installed using similar methods to vinyl floor tiles

Mapei installation systems
ToughTec™ LHT may be installed using Mapei surface preparation and adhesive systems designed for glue-down LVT and resilient vinyl tiles:
- Primers: Eco Prim Grip Plus, Eco Prim T Plus (substrate-dependent)
- Moisture Vapour Barriers:
- (New compliant concrete that is a minimum of 28 Days old and maximum 95% Relative Humidity (RH.) Mapeproof Primer
- Moisture Barriers: (On grade or in ground existing concrete slabs subject to rising damp/ hydrostatic pressure.) Planiseal MR 2 part Epoxy.
- Levelling compounds for concrete subfloors:
- Ultraplan Renovation -3mm to 40mm, Ultraplan- Eco 3mm to 10mm.
- Levelling compounds for composite timber/fibre cement/magnesium: Fiberplan – 3mm to 10mm, Ultraplan Renovation -3mm to 40mm
- Adhesives general areas: Ultrabond Eco VS90 Plus; Ultrabond Eco V4 SP Fibre; Ultrabond Eco V4 Evolution - hard-set acrylic adhesives for PVC/vinyl floor coverings
- Adhesive areas of excessive heat or moisture from above: Adesilex G19 – 2 part Epoxy Polyurethane hybrid interior/exterior adhesive.
All substrates must be NZBC Compliant, structurally sound, dry, and prepared in accordance with NZ Flooring Standards/ Mapei’s “Surface Preparation for Resilient and Timber” guidelines and the ToughTec™ LHT installation instructions.
Final product selection and system design must be confirmed with Mapei technical services (MBP (NZ) Ltd) for project-specific conditions.
Purpose: Quick-reference installation system guide for architects/specifiers pairing ToughTec™ LHT 3mm Hard Vinyl Tile with compatible Mapei substrate preparation and adhesive products or similar.

Specification Note
- “ToughTec™ LHT shall be installed using Mapei primers, levelling compounds and hard-set acrylic adhesives suitable for resilient vinyl tiles.
- Substrates must be smooth, dry, and prepared in accordance with Mapei and EcoFloors NZ installation guidelines.”
For Project-Specific Confirmation
- Consult Mapei Technical (MBP NZ) for moisture, substrate, and environmental requirements.

- No need to apply the maintenance wax on the surface.
- Clean the floor every day with an auto scrubber or a wet rag wrung out tightly. Use the neutral detergent for fixed contamination. The dirt on the bevelled part should be cleaned along its direction.
- High speed buffing should be avoided. Otherwise highly durable UV coating will be abraded.
- NW-EX Series is made to repel the wax coating. For wax application, the designated surface treatment should be prepared in advance.
- At the entrance of the building, the dust control mat should be laid to avoid soils and sands from outside.
- Please be aware that some rubber casters might cause colour-contamination.
- Please note that the product has the indigenous odour from its materials.
