A specifiable acoustic and thermal wall lining in roll format. Made from natural cork. Part of the Lemon Naturals Cork Rolls range, distributed in New Zealand by ECOFLOORS as exclusive New Zealand agent for Divina Cork.
Cork is one of the few wall finishes that does real work behind its appearance. Its closed-cell natural structure means the wall it covers absorbs sound instead of reflecting it, and slows the transfer of heat instead of bridging it.
The R Series delivers that performance in a 2 mm roll format. It applies directly over plasterboard, plywood, MDF, smooth concrete or block — no framing changes, no service relocations, no loss of floor area. For builders and developers it's a fit-out-stage decision. For designers it's a tactile, warm surface with visible natural character that holds up in commercial use.
Hospitality — bars, cafés, restaurants and function rooms where reverberation kills atmosphere. Cork takes the edge off hard-surface noise without the visual compromise of acoustic foam or fabric panels.
Workplace & studios — open-plan offices, meeting rooms, podcast and recording studios, breakout zones. Reduces speech reflection and dampens room noise.
Education & community — classrooms, lecture rooms, libraries, places of worship.
Retail & showroom — feature walls and full-height linings that add warmth and material story to the space.
Residential — feature walls, media rooms, home offices, nurseries, stairwells where sound carries.
Ceilings — the R Series can be applied to ceilings as well as walls (refer to the project gallery for examples).

The R Series and the broader Divina Cork range have been specified into NZ commercial and hospitality projects including the Atomic Café cork feature wall — see the EcoFloors project gallery for additional cork wall and ceiling installations.
Cork's acoustic and thermal behaviour comes from its cellular structure, not from a coating or a backing — and that structure is consistent through the full thickness of the material.
Sound — cork wall coverings absorb mid- and high-frequency sound energy and reduce reflected noise within a space. Applied as a full-height lining or as a strategically placed feature wall, the R Series cuts speech echo and softens hard-surface reverberation. Specific reverberation reduction depends on coverage area, room geometry and adjacent finishes — ECOFLOORS can support calculations for specified projects.
Thermal — cork is a natural insulator. The R Series adds a thin layer of thermal resistance to the wall plane and noticeably warms the surface to touch, which improves perceived comfort, particularly on cold-side or perimeter walls.
Comfort underfoot / underhand — slight resilience and warmth-to-touch that hard wall finishes can't match. Useful in spaces where occupants make contact with the wall (seating banquettes, headboard walls, lift lobbies).
Detailed acoustic test reports and thermal data are available from ECOFLOORS on request for project specification.
The R Series is supplied with EN 13501-1 B-s1, d0 classification.
Per the equivalency table on the existing product page, this typically maps to:
| EN 13501-1 Class | Likely AS 5637.1 Group | NZBC C/AS2 Use |
|---|---|---|
| B-s1, d0 | Group 1-S | Any area, including exits |
In practice this means the product is generally suitable for use across all building areas under NZBC C/AS2 — including escape routes — subject to confirmation by accredited testing in accordance with AS 5637.1. Specifiers should request the current test certificate from ECOFLOORS for the project file.

The R Series installs as a paper-backed roll using an adhesive system suited to the substrate. Full installation guidance is provided in the supplied technical sheets:
Substrate must be clean, dry, sound and level. Suitable for plasterboard, plywood, MDF and smooth masonry. ECOFLOORS can advise on adhesives and primers for specific substrates.
Cork is harvested from the bark of the cork oak (Quercus suber) without felling the tree — the bark regenerates and is re-harvested on a roughly nine-year cycle. The R Series is a natural, renewable material that offers a decorative alternative to synthetic wall finishes. ECOFLOORS is a NZGBC member.
